Question:

Swimming to build thigh muscles?

Is swimming a good method? I have really weak knees after dislocating one of them quite a few times over 7 years. Haven't dislocated for 3 years, but they're still very weak and my thigh muscles have turned to putty from lack of exercise since my first injury.

I want to build muscle fast, without hurting myself even more.

  1. I would say that the dolphin kick would be your best bet. Just make sure you do it without a board. Freestyle kick might help a lot as well.

  2. i woukd start out in a gym first just doing simple thigh squeezes with some sort of resistance.  then after a couple of weeks make your way to the pool. free and dolphin kick are the best strokes to use when you have week knees beacuse brestroke would just irritate your knees further. i have a knee problem too and i swim and this is what my physio told me to do.
