Swimming with period?

I am a camp counselor and we were supposed to accompany some of the kids in the pool. Some of the counselors did stay out of the water. I didn't go in the water because i had my period. Some of the other older counselors asked me to and then i eventually told them i had my period. Should i be embarassed that I didn't swim with my period? I guess only losers don't wear tampons?

No, Some people just arent comfortable with it. Have you tried it? I was afraid too, and when i finally tried it i found it alot more comfortable than pads.

I don't wear tampons, however i did when i swam. Just get some to wear only when swimming if you don't really like to use them. You might decide you like them better, or might just save them for swimming.

A bunch of people have said that tampons are much better than pads, but it depends on the person... i feel wierd with one, others like it because you don't feel it.

Just try a tampon, if you don't like it, don't be embarassed everyone (every woman) gets their period.

I don't wear tampons, they're just uncomfortable to me. I think it's perfectly ok not to wear them, everyone's different. I usually just avoid swimming all together if i'm having my period :P

The blood wouldn't even show in the pool whether you wear a pad/tampon into the pool, cos of the pressure of the water in the pool. if afraid, maybe you can try in your own home bath tub first to see the effect.
