Swing Alone to land a victory in the Adnams Ghost Ship Handicap at Newmarket
The Adnams Ghost Ship Handicap held at Newmarket on 4th August, 2012, is creating a significant amount of interest. Running over a distance of seven furlongs, the runners participating will tackle the good to firm surface of
the track for £9,704.
Among this line-up, the Richard Fahey trained, Hi There, looks to be the one to beat. The three-year-old only has one victory to his name, but he will be using this opportunity to collect another one.
Owned by Market Avenue Racing Club, the gelding’s form seems to be improving, since he finished second to, Ascription, by a small margin of a head in the Text 32Red To 89932 Handicap at Haydock in July, 2012, at about a mile.
The son of Dark Angel, out of mare Ornellaia, has prior experience at this track, which will give him a certain edge over other runners.
He previously raced here on 27th August, 2011, nearly a year ago in the Novae Bloodstock Insurance Nursery, and finished eighth over the distance of seven furlongs.
Competing against Hi There, is the g*y Kelleway trained, Swing Alone, who has toned up a great deal in the last two starts and seems to like the track at Newcastle enough to try and land a victory here.
The bay gelding’s sole victory came in the St Leger Live On ATR Median Auction Maiden Stakes at Wolverhampton in September, 2011, over the distance of 1 mile and ½ furlong.
The son of Celtic Swing, finished 8th in the Britannia Stakes at Ascot in June, 2012, over a distance of 1 mile.
Foaled by Gilded Time mare Groupetime, he improved a great deal and finished second to Serene Oasis by a small margin of a head in the Invesco Perpetual Handicap on 20th July, 2012.
Swing Alone’s familiarity with the track and the distance will aid him to counter Hi There. Paired with jockey, Mirco Demuro, the three-year-old will break from post 4.
In 12 starts, he has an overall record of 1-1-3.
