Swing Bowler draws attention for Betfair Hurdle
Swing Bowler has managed to grab the attention of everyone for the upcoming Betfair Hurdle at Newbury in England on Saturday, February 9, 2013. There are some fierce competitors up against her, but she cannot be taken lightly at all.
David Johnson, who is the owner of the talented mare, is confident of a good show at Newbury. He believes that there are some other solid contenders for victory in the all important Grade 3 event, but a surprise can be expected from Swing Bowler.
“She has done nothing but surprise us,” said Johnson. “You can also argue David has placed her very well but even allowing for that she has done well to win five races from just five runs and she was quite impressive on her last run in Scotland.”
He added, “She has a nice racing weight on Saturday and Timmy is dieting this week to make the weight. She is also working well but I’m still not overly excited about her chance. This is a very big step up in an open handicap and I personally think David’s
other runner, Ronaldo Des Mottes, has the more obvious chance when it comes to the Pipe horses.”
Swing Bowler debuted in 2011 and took part in a couple of events back then. However, she was not rated as the favourite to succeed on both occasions. Despite that, she did not feel any pressure at all and claimed the top spot comfortably. None of her rivals
managed to trouble her at all and she surprised the bookies with her excellent skills.
Just like her debut year, she was given a chance in a couple of events in 2012 too. This time though, she was given the highest odds for victory and the punters placed the maximum number of bets in her favour.
Once again, the David Pipe’s trainee proved to be matchless for her opponents and stretched her winning streak to four. She is a very good jumper and possesses the speed to run on flat tracks too.
She has appeared in one race this year and was victorious in it. However, things will be a touch difficult for her this time around and her winning streak might come to an end.
