Swinging Hawk seeking first win in Britain - Hill Dickinson Handicap at Chester
Swinging Hawk is yet to open his account in Great Britain, and will be under tremendous pressure after running only passably on his previous two outings. Nonetheless, the Ian Williams-trained should not be ruled out of the equation, as he has been given
a good chance by the handicapper.
Another advantage for the 6-year-old is jockey Franny Norton, who is widely regarded as a Chester specialist. The rider also has a very track record with Ian Williams. Hence, Swinging Hawk has multiple advantages in the Hill Dickinson Handicap, to be held
on Friday, September 14th.
Owned by Jamie Roberts & Jack Turton, the skilful gelding has performed well in different parts of the world, but has not yet won in UK. The son of Hawk Wing was last seen at York, where he finished sixth behind Very Good Day in the John Smith's Stayers'
Handicap in mid July.
It was an unlucky event for him, as the margin of defeat was not big. Bred by Gestut Wittekindshof, the gelding has run a few good races in defeat so far this season. He just needs a slice of luck to break the shackles and start producing positive results.
Swinging Hawk is due to meet eight speedy runners in today’s class 3 meeting. The going is good to soft for the 1m7f195y, which is scheduled to get started at 15:20 GMT. A cash prize of £7,763 is reserved for the winning runner.
Martial Law is currently the centre of attention in the betting ring. The 6-year-old surely deserves respect following a good show at Royal Ascot in July. In the hands of William Twiston-Davies, David Pipe’s charge did not make any mistake, but Romeo Montague
proved too good for him. As a result, he could only secure the runner-up place. After a classy act on his British Flat debut, he would be full of confidence.
Countrywide Flame does like such Flat races, but his chances of getting the better of Swinging Hawk and Martial Law are only few. Despite having plenty of advantages, Swinging Hawk needs to come up with his A-game in order to come out of the lean patch.
Good luck to all the runners.
