Swiss Art to give Bromhead a run for his money in the Higos Insurance Somerton Handicap Hurdle
Warsaw Pact, Swiss Art, Only Hope, Bromhead, Nothing Is Forever and Ruby Valentine will compete today in the Higos Insurance Somerton Handicap Hurdle at Wincanton on 5th April, 2012. The surface has been
labelled firm for this race, and it will cover a distance of 2 miles for £2,274.
Bromhead, the chestnut six-year-old gelding, delivered steady performances last season. The son of Johannesburg, out of mare Caramel Queen, will race in his seasonal debut today.
He competed in the Bodugi.com Launches Social Betting Selling Hurdle at Catterick on 9th March, 2011, where he was mounted by James Reveley. He stood third as he fell 5 lengths behind the runner-up, Perfectus.
Paired with the same jockey, he finished fifth in the Golf And Racing At Southwell Handicap Hurdle at Southwell on 24th March, 2011. He raced as a joint favourite with the odds of 7 to 2, while the other favourite was, Golden
Button, who finished third.
Owned by A.T. Bailey, the gelding was trained by Kevin Morgan till 30th March, 2012. He is currently trained by Alison Thorpe, and will be competing under jockey Wayne Hutchinson after a layoff of almost a year.
Swiss Art, son of One Cool Cat, out of Alpine Park, finished in placed positions in his last two races.  He finished third in the Main Event Catering Selling Hurdle at Stratford on 12th March, 2012.

He was mounted by Gavin Sheehan and finished 36 massive lengths after runner-up Mahfal.
His next performance showed improvement as he finished as a runner-up, this time by a much narrower difference of 2 lengths to winner, Nether Stream, in the Tim Dawes Selling Hurdle at Stratford on 31st March, 2012.

Ridden by Sheehan again, he delivered an impressive race as he tracked the leaders early in the race and gathered his pace. He stayed on the same pace approaching the final furlong.
If the Brian Barr trained runner shows progression today, he will certainly take down the competition.
The speculation is that Bromhead will excel today. He will be making his debut for his new trainer, who has been working hard on his form. Swiss Art will not admit defeat and will be tough to beat.
