Swiss Open 2013: Ratchanok Intanon demolishes Juliane Schenk in Women’s Singles quarter-final
Thailand’s in-form player Ratchanok Intanon continued her roller-coaster performance in the arena as she stormed into the Women’s Singles semi-final after demolishing Germany’s Juliane Schenk in a quarter-final contest of the Swiss Open 2013 on Friday, March
15, in Switzerland.
The impressive Intanon, who is number five seed in Women’s Singles main draw of the tournament, played with a great level of confidence and precision as she managed to win this quarter-final contest against the second seeded Schenk in a complete lopsided
fashion.
Thai player was in a different mood on the court as she did not show any mercy to her German challenger at any stage throughout the contest and easily wrapped up a comprehensive straight-set victory by a staggering 21-10 and 21-10 score on the board.
On the contrary, the higher ranked Schenk was completely helpless against her in-form Thai opponent. She could not control and dictate the pace of rallies at any stage and eventually bowed down to Intanon without even making her presence felt.
Intanon played with outstanding control in her strokes and managed to control the affairs from initial rallies of the opening set.
The unmatched variations in Intanon’s shots helped her to maintain her supremacy against her rival in the arena. She stayed in a strong position all the way to take a superb lead until the end of first part.
After the mid-game break, Intanon stayed focused in the arena and remained successful in maintaining a comfortable gap.
Intanon was quite calm and composed on the court as she did not take pressure and finished up the opening game with a smashing 21-10 margin on the scoreboard.
In the following set, Intanon played with comfortable speed without sparing any room for Schenk to find a good flow.
The perfectly executed smashes and wonderful net play kept Intanon ahead of her rival all the way until the end of first part of the second game.
Intanon continued putting up a sound showing in the ending half of the second game and remained successful in winning the set with a lopsided 21-10 total on the scoreboard.
In the semi-final clash, Intanon will take on the Japanese qualifier Yui Hashimoto who stunned the seventh seeded Jiang Yanjiao of China in the other quarter-final match.
