The un-seeded Daren, who is placed at number 43 in Men’s Singles world standings, found a wonderful rhythm in his opening contest in Swiss Open and thrashed the World Number 36 Leverdez in an impressive fashion without losing any game.
Daren took just 39 minutes in the court to stamp his supremacy over his French opponent and advanced into Men’s Singles second round.
Leverdez was the first to occupy the driving seat as he dictated the pace in first half of opening set and remained successful in creating pressure on Daren.
On the other hand, the Malaysian failed to dominate the pace of rallies and remained behind on the score board at 8-11 until the end of first half.
After the one-minute interval, Daren played different game as he started to execute flat shots and kept his rival away from the net. He remained on track and managed to level the score at 11-11.
Both shuttlers played at the same level and did not make any mistake until the score reached at the concluding phase. Leverdez was slightly ahead on the score board at 20-19 but could not finish the set.
On the other hand, Daren showed his brilliance at this stage and scored three consecutive points to take the game by a tight 22-20 score on the board.
In the second set, Daren showed urgency in taking a wonderful lead of 7-1 and got a strong position in the game. His French opponent dropped his speed and could not control the pace of rallies. Until the break, Daren was far ahead at 11-5.
