Swiss Open GP Gold: Karin Schnaase overwhelms Lok Yan Poon in Women’s Singles qualifying round
Germany’s talented player Karin Schnaase showed her brilliance in the court when she overwhelmed her experienced opponent Lok Yan Poon of Hong Kong in Women’s Singles qualifying round of Swiss Open GP Gold 2012 in Switzerland, on Tuesday, March 13.
Karin proved her elevated skills against Yan Poon and won the contest after working extra hard for three games.
Lok Yan also played competitive game but lost her focus in the deciding set and bowed down to her German opponent in rubber sets.
The start of this contest was entertaining for the crowd as both ladies showed their impressive skills and remained close until 8-8 when Karin lifted up her level of play and set up an 11-8 lead until the end of first half.
After the break, the German continued her positive run and maintained pressure on her Hong Kong challenger in the whole set. She managed to bag it with a four-point margin of 21-17.
In the second game, both ladies remained toe-to-toe in the opening half and no one could manage a comfortable lead until the one-minute interval.
After the break, they continued playing positive game until 15-15 when Karin could not maintain her focus and started to make unforced errors.
She dropped her speed and also failed to take the bird early and eventually lost the second game with a margin of 18-21.
In the deciding set, Karin was in a different mood as she employed all of her skills and established an early lead. The Hong Kong shuttler had no answer to the attacking play of her German rival and remained struggling.
Karin did not spare any chance for Lok Yan to level the score in the first half and managed a tremendous lead of 11-3.
After the break, Lok Yan tried to match the speed of her opponent but failed to dictate the pace of rallies.
On the other hand, Karin played positive and composed game and took the final set with a remarkable margin of 21-10.
Karin emerged as the winner of this thrilling fight with a 21-17, 18-21 and 21-10 score on the board.
