Swiss team starts training for the 2012 CEV Volleyball European League – Volleyball news
In the wake of 2012 CEV Volleyball European League, the women’s volleyball team of Switzerland has started the preparation for upcoming tough encounters.
The 4th edition of the European Women’s Volleyball League is set to take centre stage in the month of June. National squads of twelve countries will join the competition and compete for the European title. Teams will be divided into three pools, where each
group will be composed of four teams. Swiss team will be placed in Pool B alongside teams from Turkey, France, and Bulgaria. Switzerland is likely to have great challenge as all the pool members are pretty tough to deal with.
The tournament will be opened with preliminary round-robin, which will span over four weeks. Switzerland will play at home in third week of the league round. The town of Fribourg will set up the field of play for the third round matches.  
According to the set formula of the competition, each team will get the chance to compete every other team in the group. In the first week of the preliminary phase, Swiss team will travel to Bulgaria. They will take on host Bulgaria in the opening match
of the competition. Later on, the team will have two more matches against Turkey and France.
After the completion of first leg, teams will head to Turkey for the second session matches. Swiss ladies will clash with host Turkey in the first match of second week. Eventually, the team will play in front of the home audience in third week.
Svetlana Ilic is the head coach of Swiss squad and she has been putting a lot of efforts to prepare the team for competition home and away matches.
Recently, she shared her thoughts with media and stated, “Our goal for this year’s European League is to improve steadily, weekend after weekend, to get used to the rhythm of international matches and above all to impress the audience via the steady development
of this group whose goal is to perform well at next year’s European Championship.”
