how does a frank breakdown ,ie is it same as sterling ? 50p 20p 10p 5p 2p 1p

Just to think about: The smallest note is 10 Francs, so the coins are 5 Francs, 2 Francs and 1 Franc - and 1/2 Franc (equals 50 Rappen), 20 Rappen, 10 Rappen and 5 Rappen. The 1-Rappen-piece still is official money, but not in use at all.

1 franc = 100 centimes

there are 5, 10, 20 and 50 centimes...then its 1 franc

these are all swiss coins (see site). earlier we had also a 1 cent and a 2 cents piece but these are no more in use.

What joyo said, except in the German part they're called Rappen instead of centimes.
