  1. According to present rules, when the bowler switch hands, he is required to inform the umpire about it.  That is the main reason why question has been raised about switch hit of Pietersen.  Actually it is another innovative way of reverse sweep. Since reverse sweep is going on for many years, I do not think there is anything wroong in the switch hit

  2. Well switch hitting is just another weapon in the batsman's arsenal.... and it can go awryand can make you look like a fool if not played with skill....trust me .... one of my friend continuously tries that and gets out.... Also its rubbish to say to ban it.... Today with the advent of technologies bowlers are finding a lot more chinks in batsman's shots .... so its necessary to improvise... Also its ridiculous to ask the batsman to inform about the change in stance.....Its almost like asking the bowler whether you are bowling a slower or a faster one ...an inswinger or an outswinger...

  3. Hi Rahul Rocks

First of all the MCC arent looking at the legality of the "Switch hit" shot they are more than likely looking at rules at accomadate the shot.

The shot is perfectly fair and legal, its a new and innovative shot that will take years of practice, to master and perfect. The shot is so entertaining to watch, it makes crowds get on there feet and appalaud his genius!!.

The problem with the "switch hit" shot is that it effectively takes LBW's out of the question. When Pietersen plays the "Switch hit" he changes from being a right handed batsmen to a being a left handed batsmen, so if Pietersen misses the ball and its strikes his pad! then which LBW rules occur?? Because if he is being treated as a right hander when playing the "Switch hit" then the ball will have pitched outside leg 95% of the time (so he cant be given LBW) BUT if he is treated as a left hander and he misses the ball, then he can be given out.

Some people are complaining that by playing the "Switch hit" shot he is breaking the spirit of the game, because when a bowler changes his line of attack (e.g from over the wicket to round the wicket) he has to tell the umpire! BUT when Pietersen plays the "Switch hit" he doesnt have to tell the umpire!! I dont agree that he is breaking the spirit of the game, because the batsmen has the rights to play any stroke he wants to!! and if KP gets out playing the "Switch hit" then he will look very stupid.

So in my opinion the shot is fair, but the MCC may have to change the rules regarding LBW's! so that it is entirely fair for the bowlers. BUT in NO way should the MCC ban the "Switch hit" it is an amazing stroke of genius!! and its what cricket is all about!! ENTERTAINMENT!!

  4. unfair

  5. All I know is that KP is a rising bowler.

Am not aware of rules surrounding this.

  6. I dont completely agree that is fair... well fair but No it's unfair LOL!! I hae mxi feelings about it really

  7. It's fair, & it's legal

  8. I don't see anything wrong in that, not all batsmen have the skill to do that because you doesn't get much time after a delivery is bowled & such things makes the game more entertaining so I would say FAIR.
