8. Terry Mulholland: Terry started his career in 1986 and called it a day in 2006. During his 20-year-long Major League journey, he represented 11 different teams.
He was a left-handed pitcher who had his fair share of time both as a starting and relief pitcher. Terry kicked off his career in the Majors with the San Francisco Giants. He continued with the team until 1989 when a move to the Philadelphia Phillies. He
later had two more stints with the Giants.
Mulholland enjoyed success with the Phillies, throwing a no-hitter in the 1990 season. After Phillies, Mulholland switched teams on regular basis. At least five times during his career, he had a single season split between two Major League teams.
Terry’s career ended with the Arizona Diamondbacks in 2006, when he played only five games for the ball club. He has a career ERA of 4.41 and has a 124-142 win-loss record. His best performance came in 1991 when he posted a 16-13 winning record for the Phillies
in 34 starts, posting a 3.61 ERA.
He currently owns a bar in Scottsdale, Arizona.
7. Royce Clayton: The shortstop played in the Majors for 17 years. During this period, he was a part of 11 ball clubs. He batted and threw with the right hand.
Royce career started in 1991 with the San Francisco Giants. He continued with the San Francisco ball club for five seasons and enjoyed reasonable success as well. Afterwards, he was a part of St. Louis Cardinals for more than two seasons.
Later on in his career, Clayton frequently changed teams and represented seven different teams in his last five years. He retired in 2007 and Toronto Blue Jays were the last team he represented.
Royce had a good career over, posting a .258 career batting average and a .32 on-base percentage. He batted in 710 runs and went long on 110 occasions. 1997 was probably is best season when he was able to hit over 150 hits in a single season, including 44
extra base hits.
Royce Clayton has worked in a couple of movies including ‘the rookie’ and more recently ‘Moneyball’ appearing as Miguel Tejada.
6. Deacon McGuire: Deacon played 26 seasons in the Major League which is one of the longest time periods of time played by anyone at the highest level. He was a right handed catcher and played for 11 different teams and is one of the very
few players who have played in the Majors in four different decades.
Deacon’s career stared in 1884 with the Toledo Blue Stockings. His first stint lasted only one year. His longest playing stint was with the Washington Statesmen/Senators for whom he played over eight seasons. McGuire career came to an end in 1912 and he
last represented the Detroit Tigers.
He posted a career batting average of .278 and an on-base percentage of .341. Deacon hit a total of 840 RBI’s and 45 home-runs. 1895 was his most productive year with the bat as he managed 179 hits in 533 at-bats including 38 extra base hits. He had his
career high 97 RBI’s and 10 home-runs. He posted an average of .336 and an on-base percentage of .388.
Deacon McGuire also had three brief stints as Manager during his playing days. Cleveland Naps was the last team he managed, for three seasons. He passed away in 1936, at the age of 72 in Duke Lake, Michigan.
