Can I order contacts from a different brand other than the one my eye doctor prescribed me?I am currently using AVAIRA contacts and want to switch to Acuvue.Can I order the contacts from Acuvue without notifying my eye doctor?

No.  The store will refuse your request because your prescription includes the specific brand of contact lenses.  If you want to change contact lense brands, then you have to schedule an appointment with your eye doctor.  I had to do the same even when switching from Acuvue Oasys to Acuvue 1 day moists.


  2. You will have to talk with your doctor if you want to switch brands. Contacts aren't a one-size-fits-all type of thing. Your doctor has to make sure that the lens will match up to the curvature of your eye. It usually isn't a big deal. Our doctor will often write a prescription for multiple brands, that way the patient can have a choice on what they like.
