just like any other mother i have a few concerns about giving my daughter cow's milk..

a bottle of formula can sit out for at least an hour to an hour/half before it spoils.. how long can cow's milk sit out on the counter? and can i put it back in the fridge after a feeding? (cause you can't do it with formula)

and does it matter which brand like do you prefer berkeley farms over sunnyside? or organic or whatever the other type is? and what's the difference if i do give her organic milk?

  1. Cows milk is good for about 1 hr but can last longer if the temp isn't that hot in the house.  No just like with formula you shouldn't put it back in the fridge once bacteria has been introduced by the child starting to drink it, but of course many parents do put the sippy cup back in the fridge.  When they are old enough for cows milk they are also old enough to throw the bottles away.  It doesn't matter which kind of cows milk you give, you can also do soy milk if you want.  You just have to remember that organic and soy milk both have to be used within so many days after you open it where as cows milk will last longer usually in the fridge.

  2. It's alot simpler if you ask me... Milk is just fine for an hour or so, and you can put it back in the fridge unlike formula. Use whole milk any brand it contains more good fats that babies, and toddlers need, I don't know much about the organic thing, but I have raised four children on regular cows milk and they are fine, the first time you try it use 1/2 formula and 1/2 whole milk, I'm sure you'll do fine

  3. I would not let a cow's milk bottle sit out as long as a formula bottle, and I think you can put it back in the fridge, but reheating will break up the composition and take away from the nutritional value.

I don't think the brand matters as long as its whole and organic.  You will want to always get organic milk, because the organic milk cows are not given any hormones, like regular milk cows.

  4. Well It really depends on your daughter age. I didn't give my son regular cow's milk until her was like 10 months. I started off with Vitamin D now he prefers 2% because of the taste I guess. The thing I loved so much about cow's milk is that it is everywhere already ready to serve and it is not expensive or cause as much hassle as making tons of bottles when you are out running around. Cow's milk can sit out long as it is in a cool area for about an hour, and you can put it back in the fridge. You really need to ask your primary Dr. though honestly because she may not be ready to handle it yet. Good Luck.

  5. Cow milk can sit for a few hours out on the counter and be put back in the fridge

  6. Not sure about the Organic, I give my kids Vitamin D (whole milk) which is what the doctor recommends (has all the vitamins they need) And yes you can put it back in the fridge once she's done with her cup.

  7. I'd say an hr, hr and a half it could sit out depending on temp of the environment. i wouldnt offer the same milk more than 2 times because of bacteria going back into the bottle.
