I have been riding sportbikes all my life and I would like to convert, but still want the "go fast." I realize that I cannot go 180 on cruiser like I can on a sportbike but I am looking for the power to roll through the throttle and quickly accelerate. I test drove a VTX1300, but was not completely satisfied with the delivery. I don't want to spent an arm and a leg, but I want to happy as well as confident with my purchase. I have also been looking at the Vulcan Mean Streak 1600, Yamaha Raider, VTX 1800, Boulevard M109R, and Victory. Should I try a sport touring, like a Busa or ZX14? I am racking my brain.

  1. Yeah, go Busa or ZX14. Suzuki has the new B-King that is the Hayabusa Engine, but in a standard seating position.

Keep in mind there are many sport tourers besides the Suzuki Hayabusa and the Kawasaki ZX14. These two are actually hyperbikes, and are so long they have to have tall bars. Yamaha makes a FJR series. Triumph has the Sprint. Honda, like it or not has the popular as h**l Goldwing, but it's slow.

It just depends on how much comfort you want to sacrifice for power.

  2. The cheap way would be to have a streetfighter. Those wide handlebars make cornering and real world non-track riding so much more comfortable and easy.

I think your best bet would be a 'Busa or a ZX14, or that new bagger version of the ZX14.

Unless do you fancy BMWs ? Price too high ?

Me, I find I like the idea of something more comfortable, but I miss the sheer top end punch of sportsbikes. I have ridden other stuff, but comeback to the sportsbike, teeth gritted against the hard seat/aching wrists/folded up legs, I just feel that riding a slow bike is like watching p**n when you could be having s*x.

  3. i agree with kyle, bKing, or ST13 would probably suit you well...

    then there's always the v-max (not v-rod)

  4. i like the night rod special(v-rod) and vmax.  the new vmax for 2009 will be the fastest bike you can buy i hear.  otherwise, the m109r is pretty ballsy.  a buddy of mine has one, its good for power, but its kinda ugly i think.

  5. Are you open to performance cruisers?  I've always liked the Yamaha VMax.

  6. I bought me a 02 fz1 to go along with my R1. So I have a do it all comfy bike, along with my scratcher.

  7. hd vrscw

  8. I have a friend with a Yamaha Roadstar 1700.It's a very nice bike.
