Switching off lines under words?

using word 2003 I want to switch off those wavy lines that appear under the words but do not know where the switch is. Thank you.

  1. Disable the spelll checkking and grammar checkering.

    Actually, you might want to take notice of those wavvy lines as they are there to help you.


  2. NOVICE, you've got the spell checker on (the lines are red) and/or the grammar checker on (green, IIRC).

    To turn them off, goto Tools-->Options-->Spelling and Grammar and uncheck the one that says to check spelling or grammar as you type.

  3. Why, why would you want to turn it off? Yes, sometimes it is incorrect but it is a useful device.

  4. highlight the word then right click on it and press ignore.

  5. the lines represent language or grammar correction. to switch them off you need to turn off language/grammar correction from options.

    go to tools->options->spelling&grammar (tab)

    uncheck 'check spelling as yout type' and 'check grammar as you type'
