Switching phones with verizon?

Question

my brother died not very long ago, and since I'm leaving his room exactly the way it was when he left, I thought something I want to do to always have him with me is to get my number switched to his phone. That didnt come out very clear, I know. What I mean is, I want to keep my number, but have HIS phone now have my number. Is there any way to do that? I tried calling verizon but when you're not talking to a real person it's hard to find out what you want.

I'm sorry to hear that, but I'm glad you've decided to keep his memory alive by using his phone!

To do this, it's pretty simple.  First, make sure the phone is on the Verizon network and the account has been closed (or the phone removed from the account). Then, just dial the home-phone equivalent of 611 for Verizon Wireless - [phone] from your home phone.  Tell the rep you need to do an ESN change (That's Electronic Serial Number).  They should then walk you through the menu to get that ESN from your brother's phone and have you working before you hang up.

okay so you want his phone to have your number? yes :) there is a way to do that and i think what you are doing is sweet.

call into customer service and tell them you just want to change the phone you have  over to your brothers. (you want to do an ESN change) That way you will now have your brothers phone attatched to your number.

if you have a My Verizon Acct you can do it on there yourself. if not call into customer care, and it is a simple.

make sure that if and when you call that you are not calling from your phone or his... call from a different number. This makes the activationgo through successfully.
