Switch’s magnificent season continues and she would be hoping to crowd the winning column in the Thoroughbred Club of America Stakes
The 4-year-old John Sadler trained filly, Switch, is scheduled to take on 10 other rivals in the Grade 2 Thoroughbred Club of America Stakes, where she will run over a distance of 7 furlongs over Keeneland’s Poly Track on 8 October, 2011.
The daughter of Quiet American, out of Antoniette by Nicholas, Switch has run at Keeneland in her 3 years in racing, and will make her debut there in the Thoroughbred Club of America Stakes over its main track.
The C R K Stable owned Switch and her connection will be hoping to win the race and earn an automatic berth in the Breeders’ Cup, because the Thoroughbred Club of America is the Breeders’ Cup “Win and You’re In” race for Sentient Jet Breeders’ Cup Filly
and Mare Sprint at Churchill Downs this November.
Switch closed the 2010 season on a winning note, by winning the Grade 1 La Brea Stakes at Santa Anita Park’s seven furlong dash on 26 December, 2010, under Joel Rosario.
She picked up where she left from, kicked off the 2011 season in the same manner, a win in the Grade 1 Santa Monica Stakes on 30 January, 2011, at the same distance of seven furlongs, and covered the distance in 1 minute and 20.70 seconds.
Since then the filly hasn’t won anything but had been consistently finishing on the board, with 3 second place finishes on the trot, starting form Grade 1 Santa Margarita at Santa Anita, giving was to Miss Match and finishing behind her.
She got the two best older mares in the country to deal with in her next two races, and finishing second best to them isn’t bad at all.
Havre de Grace first downed her in the Grade 1 Apple Blossom at about 1 1/16 miles at Oaklawn Park on 15 April, with the winning time of 1 minute and 42.19 seconds.
Over at Hollywood Park’s synthetic surface, a switch after 5 dirt races for Switch against Blind Luck, as Blind Luck did what she does best, won the race at 1 1/8 miles, as Switch turned in a second place finish yet again.
Switch broke her second place finish streak by finishing third in the Grade 1 Clement Hirsch behind Zazu and the winner Ultra Blend on 6 August, 2011, at Del Mar.
This time around Switch will have to contend with another reputable adversary, Shotgun Gulch who will be looking to rectify her season and earn an automatic berth in the Breeders’ Cup.
