Question:

Switzerland from Milan?

I'll be driving a rented car from Bologna to Milan for the day (in October). Just want to see the Last Supper(I know I need reservations) but thought I'd drive the 30 - 40 miles up to Switzerland just to say I've been there. Is there anything within the first 20 or thirty miles pass the Swiss border worth seeing? Will I have problems at the border?

  1. you take the A9-COMO/CHIASSO  and you arrive in switzerland.

you shuldnt have problems at the bouder, but remembera that to enter in the ccountry you have to pay 40€( for the highroad)

  2. Thier should be no problem at the border as long as you got your car rental lease and passport, but as far as i rember no thier is not much to see and about all is to say you been thier and thats about it.

  3. as suggested, take highway A9 COMO direction. After the paytoll, exit to COMO  MONTE OLIMPINO and then follow SVIZZERA label (it is just 10 minute driving from Monte Olimpino). At the border they normally don't stop Italian cars, unless they want to make a control. If you have your valid passport with you, no problem at all. After the passport control, follow Lugano direction on the green label, as the blue labels are for the highway. In this way, you can avoid to pay 40€ as annual pass for swiss highway. LUGANO is a wonderfull city, on the lake of Lugano, and it is worth to spend a day there (and you can visit the famous casino... if you have money to throw away...)
