Switzerland rail time table?

Question

We are visiting switzerland shortly and planning to use swiss pass for our 8 days stay . When searched for a destination the site sbb.ch give all the connection trains / options etc. But if we were to frequently travel and no internet access how can i find out the diffrent options / connections available to diffrent places.?

in addition to the timetable books (which can be confusing as there are multiple for different regions of the country), you can always ask the agent at the counter.  they can print out an individualized itinerary with all the stops, time of arrival, track numbers, etc. for you.  the larger stations (like Zurich HB) also has computers (free) for searching travel routes -- in Zurich, they are located in the special reservation office.  train info is always on monitors or electronic billboards; the smaller stations have the big yellow posters -- it's not actually that complicated, as long as you know where you're going.  even if you rely solely on the posters with the train info, it's easy to connect trains with multiple stops and track changes; that's because the trains in Switzerland are coordinated precisely to work together.

Two other points:

1. If you have the SwissPass, you can always just get on whatever train (or boat, or bus, or tram) you see and go wherever it takes you. You're not very likely to wind up somewhere horrible!

2. If you ask a random person in the train station, there's at least a 50% chance that they will speak a language you speak AND know exactly when and where the train you need comes, and a reasonable chance that they will have time and be willing to help you get sorted. Swiss people are very proud of their trains! (At least the people you'll find in the station.)

you can get a little book with the timetable at the railway station, the trains are very punctual and reliable in CH, it won't be a problem.

We have a wonderful SMS service that the SBB-CFF-FFS provide us - let me give you step-by-step instructions on how to use this service.

Let's say you're traveling from Geneva to Zürich:

1.Open up a new SMS and depending on your service provider in Switzerland (Sunrise, Orange or Swisscom) type in whichever of the following apply:

If your provider is ORANGE or SWISSCOM type:

Geneva - Zurich HB

and send to 222

If your provider is SUNRISE, type:

SBB Geneva - Zurich HB

and send to 999

You will receive a schedule indicating when the next train will be departing from the station and indicating to you all the steps of the journey.

Each SMS costs 60 centimes (rappen)
