I woke up this morning and my face was bright red and my eyes feel like they are dry and my eye lids are puffy or swollen and I haven't eatten anything different, changed any routine, same soaps and shampoos and laundry soaps. No idea what it's from.. I haven't changed anything whatsoever... any ideas?

  1. I agree with the reviewer above.  Check with your doctor.  If you don't have other symptoms, then it sounds like an allergic reaction would be the most likely cause (and it's often difficult to narrow down what caused it).

If it will be a few hours before you can get to the doctor, you could try over-the-counter benadryl, since it inhibits histamine, which plays a major role in allergic reactions.  If you are less than 18, have your parent check the dose before taking it.  Be advised that benadryl will cause drowsiness and dry mouth.  If the reaction gets progressively worse or you develop wheezing or difficulty breathing, go to the ER.

  2. I would suggest calling your doctor or eye doctor and asking them.  If you wear contact lenses I would definitely call you eye doctor about this problem asap!

Your eyes are nothing to fool around with (you only get one pair and if you mess with your eyesight it can be permanent) so I personally would at least call your family doctor if not an eye doctor.

This may have nothing to do with your problem but to let you know,  I will sometimes wake up with my eye lids a bit on the swollen / puffy side and my eyes feel dry and scratchy but mine is from allergies (pollen and stuff like that).  But my face is not bright red.

And as I stated I really do feel that you should check with your doctor about this.
