Question:

Swollen gums around my wisdom teeth?

I'm seventeen and just had all 4 impacted wisdom teeth removed about 3 days ago. Now I'm in the worst pain ever! My cheeks are swollen like a watermelon and my gums are tender and hurt really badly. I've iced them, have been eating soft foods, and took my vikaden and ibuprofen 800 from my surgeon. What else can I do?

  1. that is all he gave you. and it still hurts. you poor baby, I'd surely let you rest your poor little pretty head on my shoulder and I'd baby you tenderly every day until all that pain has gone away.

But I hardly know you, and I wouldn't want you to think I'm brash.

so the most you can do now is either try to sleep it off, or deal with that pain. I know I had that done a while back but I got some killer pain killers and well ...

good luck in beating that pain away

  2. Tell him your symptoms.  Usually the pain from wisdom tooth extraction subsides very quickly and it may not be very significant to begin with.  If your cheeks are swollen and you're in great pain, something may be infected.  It's important to follow the doctor's instructions absolutely to the letter after a wisdom-tooth extraction, otherwise painful complications can linger for quite a while.
