okay so i pierced my lip before and with minimal swelling

but this time i had to force a lil to get the ring through b/c it was closing fast

and now it's swollen like crazy

and that was exactly two days ago

ice didn't help much at all

and i've cleaned it plenty w/ antibacterial soap

is there anything i can do to make the swelling go down?

please don't lecture me on piercings.

you're just being annoying.

  2. Having to force the jewelry through means that it's going to swell more. Lay off the anti bacterial soap, it's normally too harsh for piercings. Instead, mix 1/4 teaspoon non-iodized sea salt and one cup (8oz) water heated as hot as you can without burning yourself. Soak for 10-15 minutes (some people suggest as long as 30 min.) once a day (i personally do every other day).

Twice a day spray a q-tip or paper towel (i prefer paper towels since they don't leave behind threads) with saline solution and gently brush away crusties.

After you eat or drink anything other than water rinse with an alcohol free mouth wash (try not to go over 4 times a day).

if swelling doesn't go down significantly after a week see a doctor (minor swelling directly around the site is normal for up to 3 weeks).

Ibuprofen also helps with swelling, take as directed

  3. unfortunatley theres really nothing you can do... oral piercings are a pain to maintain- human mouth= most discusting
