  1. Hi there

There are many different sword arts. Some are sword only whilst others have sword as part of their curriculum. You mentioned Aikido which is based around the movement of a sword and incorporates the sword as part of their Kata. You have kendo which is traditional Japanese fencing. Then there's iaido schools such as muso jikiden eishin ryu which focus on the art of drawing the sword with little or no contact.

There's also Batto jutsu plus many more. Do a search on the web for your area. If you're lucky something may pop up!

    Best wishes

    idai

  2. If you want to do sword styles without hurting someone, the only one I can think of is Iaido, but that isn't really fighting.....

If you want to do sword fighting that isn't kendo that is Japanese, perhaps kenjutsu....

But if you don't want to hurt someone, then I suggest you don't do any martial art....

  3. actually aikido does encompass the use of the sword and staff.

Since much of the art is based upon classic japanese sword fighting, it helps a great deal if you know the underlying sword arts.

I love training with a sword it is a graceful weapon yet very deadly.
