Swords Star heads betting market for Sporting Press A1 525 Semi-final at Shelbourne Park
Considering his plenty of experience at Grade A1, the bookmakers have given Swords Star the highest starting price for the Sporting Press A1 525 Semi-final, being held at Shelbourne Park on Thursday, May 03, 2012.
The 525 yards flat heat will be kicked off at 21:55 GMT. A cash prize of €100 is reserved for the triumphant hound. Among the contenders are: Swords Star, An Tochar Player, New Route, Motor Bar Bound, Highview Coast and Drumna
Nina.
In the mid of last month, Swords Star displayed a decent show, securing the runner-up place in a similar race. He could not maintain good standards afterwards and as a result, finished fourth last time around.
Although victories seem to have dried up for the black dog, it is hard to overlook his class. Today’s event seems to be an ideal chance for him to get back to his best.
Out of his opponents, An Tochar Player is being considered as the biggest threat. The black dog is coming into this class after a few poor efforts in the Grade OR.
It will be interesting to see how he uses this opportunity to regain his winning momentum. In his most recent trip, Royal Impact's son finished third on the chart.
New Route will look to replicate what he did at the end of March. In a similar race, the fawn dog sealed the top place, beating Head For Fame by a head’s distance.
In his only appearance last month, he was not impressive at all. After getting crowded at the first bend, he lost all of his chances to do well and consequently, completed the order of finish.
Motor Bar Bound is coming into this battle after a classy win at Newburgh. However, he cannot be trusted blindly, as the conditions at Shelbourne Park are entirely different. Highview Coast is going through a slump and therefore,
she is not worth considering tonight.
Swords Star is the most preferred hound at the moment. However, he will have to perform out of his skin to beat the likes of An Tochar Player and New Route. We wish the best of luck to everyone.
