tax.Would that be enough to cover a month's room rent (including expenses) and food?

Also, how much would you say is the average salary in Australia?

Remember i am considering this amount of money just for rent and food.

  1. Mmm....

    Rent in/near the CBD = $150- $350+ p/w

Outter suburbs are cheaper, around $100-$200 p/w

Food and electricity/gas = 200 per 2 weeks.... if you are careful..

BUT if you live far from the city and need transport, i think the yearly ticket is $1,720 - $2,200 (if you are outside the "Yellow" areas)....

  2. For just a single room and food, that would be enough. It would not be enough if you wanted to rent an entire property for just yourself. Average weekly income is $880 (according to the Australian Bureau of Statistics report dated November 2007).

  3. It would have to be a single room in a share house in the outer suburbs. You would need to live verrrry cheap.

$1400 would be good a fortnight if you want a comfortable semi luxury lifestyle.
