Sydney - A bad place to invest (in property)?

My Mum says Sydney is not a good place to buy property (for investment purposes). You will never get a good return on an investment property in Sydney becasue property prices are too high to enable positive gearing.

Is this true?

  1. yes, there is a high rental demand in sydney.....

better wait until IF THERE is a recession or crash, the property prices will go down heaps. (I'm not guaranteeing 100% if theres going to be a crash or recession soon)

  2. You'll probably need to speak to investment experts or look up more resources on property investing in Sydney - I'm sure that there are areas outside of Sydney where that might not be the case.

I was looking at Perth as an alternative for property investing myself - this site lists some inner city and waterfront apartments for higher end investing: http://www.savilleaustralia.com.au/proje...
