Sydney Siders: Are you happy you have your city back?

Some of the Sydney people are bloody sooks! why complain about wyd for? It was just a week. And it was a really good event.

I'm from Sydney.. and I think it was a good thing.. I'm catholic and I havnt been to church for years.. But since attending wyd events, it has made me get in touch with my religion again.. Stations of the cross was rather moving.. And I thought it was amazing how people from over 100 countries gather in one city at the same time.

PS: If anyone on here was a protester. GET F*CKED and let people believe in what they want to believe in. We dont complain much about your ways. Why do you try and protest against something that only went for a week and will never happen again? Where do you guys go when you die? Nowhere, you just rot in the ground, or scatter your ashes or whatever.

  1. I'm kind of sad WYD is over!

It was such a good event to experience. I think the pilgrims overall were well behaved. Never seen this city with so many people who were free of alcohol. (hahaha compared to my NYE experience).

It was beautiful - there was a sense of community among everyone not just Catholics. Like the Islamic school that hosted pilgrims. The Pope was lovely also - he's such a wonderful spirit.

I also hadn't been to church since Easter and prior to that the Easter before. So it was really uplifting and reconnected me with my faith. I guess our busy lives let us forget what an important part religoin is - it shouldnt be an excuse.

I think a lot of people in the city are glad it's over as they get the clean up underway. I completely agree with angel 9900. And i truly hope that this event that was so special to so many people wasn't the cause for a lot of anger and frustration. I hope people who didn't like the spirit that WYD brought can be happy in knowing that their wonderful city made this a memorable experience for so many young people.

Madrid '11 should be even better! I hope to go.

I would also want to visit the cathedrals (which i absolutely love: the architecture, the symbolism, the beauty behind them) and maybe meet the Real Madrid team! ;)

  2. iam a born again christian and i went to a catholic primary school and catholic high skool so iam not a protestor and i do have the same beliefs as u however iam glad we hve our city back. it had a gr8 vibe and atmosphere to it but all it made me do was stay home all week like most sydney siders as we r told 2 stay away from the city and lower north shore and east and thats where i hang out and work and partner lives.

i think it was ok for every1 to come because it was a gr8 vibe or atmosphere however what i didnt like about it that WE THE TAXPAYERS HAD 2 PAY 4 ALL OF IT. the taxpayers paying for it can b muslim.. athiest or buddhist. what i find unfair is that it happened because the taxpayers paid for it.

if the catholics and christians wanted it 2 happen then the catholics and christians should fund for it. not everyday taxpayers because its like forcing ppl who dont believe in it 2 pay for it.

btw iam a christian but iam trying to see it from a non christian proespective as i have alot of non christian friends

  3. I'm a Sydneysider and thought it was great, but it's good that we have our city back and people can get back to normal. Now that you are in touch with your religion again you had better work on that fowl mouth and attitude you have going on there.

  4. well firstly i would just like to say that your last paragraph isn't very pleasing and it doesn't seem to be coming from a catholic person. Its fine if poeple can protest i mean what is wrong with it they are just expressing themselves. And you have made a very negative anti-catholic statement which is kind of contradicting your "beliefs of world youth day" And people do complain about people having no religion or not believing in god because you are doing it and just have a look at religion part on yahoo answers...
