Sydney Sixers v Titans – Champions League Twenty20 2012 – Semi-Final – Sydney Sixers batsmen to watch out for [Part 1]
Having emerged as one of the strongest sides in the ongoing Champions League Twenty20, the Sydney Sixers have secured a spot for themselves in the tournament semi-final at the SuperSport Park in Centurion on October 26, where they will be battling it out
with the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Titans-c856 for a place in the CLT20 final.
Coached by http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746’s Big Bash League, and went on to be crowned BBL champions after defeating the Perth
Scorchers in the tournament final at Perth on January 28, 2012.
The victory secured them direct entry into the CLT20, where the team has maintained an as yet unbeaten streak, having breezed through the group stages where they won all four of the matches they played. Since their formation last year, the Sixers have played
a total of 13 matches, out of which they have won 11 – an impressive record by any standards.
During the earlier stages of their CLT20 campaign, the team found themselves bolstered to a great degree by the presence of star Australian all-rounder http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sri-Lanka-c758,
where he was awarded the Player of the Tournament despite the fact that Australia crashed out of the semis, chipped in with a solid all-round performance for the Sixers, but was forced to leave the tournament early, after being summoned back home by Cricket
Australia to prepare for the upcoming summer.
While the team’s bowling attack boasts a wide array of pacers who have managed superb performances for the team, the batting attack found itself considerably weakened by the departure of Watson. Nevertheless, in their final group stage match, sans Watson,
the team managed to claim a 12-run win over the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mumbai-c820 Indians, proving that the batting order had the potential to carry the team though.
In the absence of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Watson-c96326, the Sixers batsman have risen to the challenge, and the team has a fair few players who can be counted upon to deliver with the bat as they look to move past the Titans into the CLT20 final.

Among the most experienced Sydney Sixers’ batsmen in the T20 format of the game, Michael Lumb has established his worth as a solid opener for the side, and was signed as an overseas player after impressive performances for England and several County clubs.
In addition to regularly having played T20s for County clubs, including an impressive performance for http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Essex-c783), the left-hander was also picked up by
the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Rajasthan-c837 Royals for $50,000, leading to an entry into the Indian Premier League.
In addition to County cricket and the IPL, Lumb also has a fair amount of experience playing T20s for http://www.senore.com/Cricket/West-Indies-c760.
Lumb is currently a veteran of 132 T20s, with 2763 runs to his credit, and has been the Sixers’ top run-getter in the ongoing edition of the CLT20, with 111 runs from 4 matches, at a strike rate of 132.14. Having established solid foundations for the team
at the top of the order so far, Lumb will be expected to step up and guide the batting order, and shoulder additional responsibility in the absence of Watson – judging by his recent stats and performances, however, the 32-year-old is bound to be well up to
the task.
