Sydney Sixers v Yorkshire – Champions League Twenty20, 2012 (Group B) – Toss Report
Yorkshire won the toss and skipper Andrew Gale elected to bat first against the Sydney Sixers, in their first Champions League Twenty20 match, due to be played at Newlands in Cape Town, today on October 16.
The 6th match of the tournament sees the Sixers, current Big Bash League champions, furthering their campaign after having defeated the Chennai Super Kings in a convincing 14-run victory in their first CLT20 match. Undefeated in the past 6 T20
matches they have played, the team boasts several big names, and poses an intimidating challenge to any team in the tournament.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Yorkshire-c867, however, came into the tournament as the runners up of the Friends Life t20, and underwent a qualifying stage, before earning a place in the main event. The team breezed through the qualifiers, defeating both Uva Next and Trinidad & Tobago comprehensively,
before being placed in Group B after qualifying for the main event.
The Sixers have made one change to their line-up for today, bringing in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Nic-Maddinson-c79322. While the move might appear misguided, keeping in mind the fact that Maddinson was the leading run-scorer in the inaugural 2011/2012 edition
of the Big Bash League, the team has recently been hit with the news that star all-rounder Shane Watson will not be available to them for the latter stages of the tournament, having been ordered by Cricket http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746 to return home in order to prepare for the
upcoming home summer.
Keeping this in mind, the Sixers will be looking to fortify their batting order and make sure all their batsmen get sufficient time at the crease, in order to ensure they are prepared, as and when they are required.
Meanwhile, although Yorkshire lack the star power the Sixers house, they appear to be a fairly confident team, and have gone into the match with an unchanged XI – the same team that defeahttp://www.senore.com/Cricket/Thomas-George-Burrows-c93472ed T&T in their last qualifier match.
