Yorkshire 96/9 (20/20 ov) v Sydney Sixers 98/2 (8.5/20 ov) - Sydney Sixers won by 8 wickets (with 67 balls remaining)
Yorkshire had nowhere to run on Tuesday, when they were up against the fiery pace attack of Sydney Sixers in their Champions League Twenty20 Group B fixture, where they were allowed to score only 96 runs in 20 overs at Newlands, Cape Town.
Delighted by his bowlers, Sydney captain http://www.senore.com/Cricket/BJ-Haddin-c1170, who was named as the Man of the Match said, “We had a few things we needed to work on after the first game. The best thing about the three fast bowlers was they bowled differently, presenting different challenges to the batsmen. I am pretty lucky they are all looking to have a go. Still got to get better and better as the tournament goes on."
Meanwhile, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Andrew-Gale-c1039, the captain of Yorkshire thought that a score around 160 would have been enough for his side to defend.
“But we didn't get off to a good start, and we were chasing the game from thereon. We have learned valuable lessons from today, have three games left, and will hopefully reverse the result on Thursday," said Gale.
After choosing to bat first Yorkshire failed to get off to a flier, losing their first wicket on the penultimate delivery of the sixth over with only 30 on the board.
Sydney’s http://www.senore.com/Cricket/JR-Hazlewood-c1743 drew first blood by nabbing the wicket of Gale, who perished after scoring only eight runs.
On the second delivery of the next over, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/MA-Starc-c1871, struck to grab the second wicket of the day as he sent PA Jaques back to the pavilion on 21.
Middle-order batsmen, JE Root and A Lyth held the innings together as they took the score to 62 before all h**l broke loose on the wicket of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/JE-Root-c66745, who perished after jabbing 25 runs.
With A Lyth hitting the showers after scoring 18, Yorkshire’s remaining batting line-up was obliterated by Sydney's fantastic bowling.
Requiring 97 to win, Sydney Sixers reached the target in 8.5 overs for the loss of two wickets.
