Have you kept it closed ever since?

Or have you held other ceremonies in it?

  1. as Orioles has said the stadium is still in use... no point wasting such a huge stadium, so is the aquatic centre...

the athletes accommodation was also designed to and has been converted to private housing..

more problematic has been the area surrounding the stadiums which is currently underutilised.. with some commercial office and exhibition areas, but long term planning looks set to develop a mix of medium rise office, commercial and residential development over the next decade or so as the area is already serviced by a train station put in place for the olympics (and providing our NSW government can fix our currently struggling rail system..) with the aim af creating another small city centre... the area is fairly central and it is hoped that by establishing an office/business precinct here it will ease the  burden of transport into our main CBD

  2. It's called ANZ Stadium now, and there are NRL (rugby league) matches held there every weekend, as well as occasional rugby union, soccer, australian rules and even cricket matches.

After the games the athletics track was removed and the massive open stands at either end were replaced with smaller covered sections, reducing the capacity from about 112,000 down to about 83,000
