Syed Modi International: Alamsyah Yunus tames Anup Sridhar to ease into Men’s Singles second round
Indonesia’s experienced player Alamsyah Yunus played to his maximum potential in Men’s Singles first round and tamed his local opponent Anup Sridhar at the Syed Modi International India GPG 2012 at Lucknow, India, on Wednesday, December 19.
The fifth seeded Yunus, who has been showing great performance in recent tournaments at international stage, played with incredible precision and outplayed his lower ranked local challenger while taking just 34 minutes.
Yunus was on a different level as he did not spare any chance for his opponent throughout the match and eventually finished it off in straight games with a stunning difference on the score board.
On the contrary, the un-seeded Anup failed to capitalise his experience against the in-form Indonesian challenger. He conceded many points while playing negative strokes and remained unable to avoid defeat from the hands of Yunus in straight sets.
In the first game, the lofty Yunus showed a phenomenal feat in the arena as he played with commanding control from initial points.
The tempo of the rallies was very fast as the Indonesian shuttler played to his maximum speed and remained successful in pushing Anup on back foot.
Until the one-minute interval, the World Number 37 Yunus remained miles ahead of his local opponent as he set up a wonderful lead on the board.
On the other hand, the underdog Anup could not change things around after the one-minute interval as he lost his focus in the arena.
Indonesian player continued executing powerful smashes in targeted areas and finally took the first set with a smashing 21-12 score on the board.
In the second game, Indian shuttler found himself in all sorts of trouble as he failed to stop the aggression of Yunus and remained struggling all the way in opening half.
Until the one-minute break, the fifth seeded Yunus continued playing with command and variations and remained ahead on the board.
In the concluding part, the incredible Yunus continued his comfortable ride and easily clinched the second set by a huge difference of 21-12.
Yunus easily registered his supremacy on Indian soil by crushing his local rival in just 34 minutes with an inspiring 21-12 and 21-12 total on the board.
