India’s upcoming shuttler Srujan Nandaluri showed a steady progress in the arena and surged into Men’s Singles main round after defeating Bangladesh’s Haque Md. Anamul in qualifying round at Syed Modi International India GPG 2012 in Lucknow, on Tuesday,
December 18.
The impressive Srujan, who entered into the qualifying round as an un-seeded player, delivered a phenomenal performance and toppled his higher ranked Bangladeshi challenger in just 22 minutes.
Srujan played with incredible speed and controlled the pace of rallies while staying focused on court. He was on a different level and stamped his mark over Haque in straight sets with a lopsided score on the board.
On the other hand, the third seeded Haque was completely helpless against his local opponent as he could not put up strong show and eventually bowed down to his challenger in a lopsided fashion.
Indian shuttler played with phenomenal control in his shots and managed to take over the pace of rallies from starting rallies of the first set.
Srujan proved that he has obtained top class skills on court and ultimately successful in getting a strong domination in the arena.
The in-form Srujan did not show any confusion as he was in complete command of rallies until the end of first half.
The fight proceeded in the same manner after the one-minute break as Srujan did not lose his commanding position in the arena.
Srujan continued executing powerful smashes in targeted areas and eventually took the opening game with an inspiring margin of 21-8.
In the following set, the lower ranked Srujan did not lose his concentration at any stage in the first half of second set as he played with confidence and precision.
Srujan impressed the crowd with his lofty skills that assisted him to put pressure on his opponent who could not produce good form.
Haque failed to show strong performance in the second set of this fight as his rival Srujan played better game and secured the game with a reasonable 21-11 margin on the board.
The local shuttler grabbed victory in this Men’s Singles qualifying round battle in straight sets with a crushing difference of 21-8 and 21-11.
