Syed Modi International: Sapsiree Taerattanachai ousts Arundhati Pantawane in first round battle
Thailand’s upcoming female shuttler Sapsiree Taerattanachai showed a great performance in Women’s Singles first round when she toppled her local challenger Arundhati Pantawane at Syed Modi International India GPG 2012 on Wednesday, December 19, in Lucknow.
The higher ranked Taerattanachai, who has been showing up a steady progress at international stage, started her campaign in a confident and dominating fashion and remained successful in beating Arundhati in 40 minutes.
However, it was not an easy task for the Thai shuttler as she had to dig deep into her arsenal to overpower her talented Indian rival in straight sets with a close score on the board.
On the contrary, the lower ranked Arundhati put up superb show of aggressive and positive badminton and she troubled her Thai opponent throughout the battle. But she failed to play with precision in the ending points and eventually lost the set with respectable
total.
