Sylhet Division v Rajshahi Division – National Cricket League, 2012/13 – Match Update – Rajshahi defeat Sylhet by 10 wickets
Rajshahi Division’s centurion Sabbir Rahman played a vital role in keeping the Sylhet Division in check throughout their first-class match during the ongoing National Cricket League, and the team went on to secure a comfortable 10-wicket win over Sylhet
at the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Bangladesh-c747 Krira Shikkha Protisthan Ground in Savar, after a hard-fought battle from December 1 to 4.
Rajshahi kicked the match off by choosing to field first after winning the toss. http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Farhad-Reza-c56788 (12.1-5-26-4), Saqlain Sajib (30-5-81-3), and Taijul Islam (18-2-47-2) were at the forefront of the team’s bowling attack, and Sylhet’s batsmen were consequently
unable to apply themselves at the crease for prolonged periods of time. The highest score was skipper http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Alok-Kapali-c43787’s 46, but the remaining batsmen were unable to support him. Rumman Ahmed (35) was the only one who attempted to put up a fight, while the rest
crumbled, and Sylhet found themselves all out at 218.
Rajshahi, on the other hand, put up a solid display during their first innings, setting up a massive target which Sylhet were ultimately unable to tackle effectively. Sabbir Rahman led the team with a fluent 136, with Maisuqur Rahman (58), skipper Farhad
Reza (46), and wicketkeeper http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Tapash-Kumar-Baisya-c92750 (15-3-56-2) was the only one who managed to offer him any support.
Untroubled, for the most part, Rajshahi worked their way up to a sizeable 390 before Sylhet finally managed to bowl them out, on the third day of play.
Stepping up to bat for the second time, Sylhet were faced with the challenge of setting Rajshahi a daunting total to chase – however, they found themselves unequal to the task. A half-century from wicketkeeper batsman http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Golam-Mabud-Chowdhury-c60273 (61) was the highlight of
the team’s innings, and none of the remaining players were able to equal the feat. The only other notable performances came from http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Saqlain-Sajib-c88745 (27-9-53-3) on the prowl, Sylhet
were contained, eventually, and finished at 202, all out.
The resulting target of a meagre 31 runs posed no difficulties for the Rajshahi batsmen, and openers Maisuqur Rahman (6*) and Sabbir Rahman (25*) got the team home safe, with 10 wickets still remaining.
