Sylvain Chavanel joined the 2012 winning club
Sylvain Chavanel of Team Omega Pharma-QuickStep started his winning ways during the Three Days of De Panne.
He succeeded with a tremendous win during the final time trial stage of the race and helped the team with yet another victory in the young season.
Team Omega Pharma is having a terrific season with the maximum number of victories in the season.
The side grabbed as many as 21 victories in the first quarter of the year and Chavanel was amongst the only few victory-less cyclists in the squad.
He was relieved after the win and is determined to build up on the current form for the coming events of the season.
"I'm here to win races for the team and I've won two in one day, so I'm really happy. The team already had more than 20 wins and I was one of the riders who had yet to open his account," he noted.
"It was my third time trial of the year. I was 4th in the time trial at San Luis and 6th at Paris-Nice. So I was so proud to win this one, especially as I was up against Westra, Tuft and Durbridge, guys who are good rouleurs".
The French claimed the first overall spot during the Three Days of De Panne and also finished first during the stage 3b of the race.
He came close to the victory during the Dwars door Vlaanderen but was denied of the first position by Niki Terpstra.
Sylvain achieved the 8th overall spot during the 2012 version of the Paris-Nice and the overall victory at the Belgian race has boosted his confidence for the remaining part of the season.
