Sylvan learning center in canada?

My daughter id struggling with grade nine math, primarily because she lacks the background which provided the basics in earlier grades, any advice as to whether sylvan learning center is the solution?Or assistance from parents?

I would go to the child's teacher and ask her for the names of other teachers that may be interested in providing tutoring.  Sylvan is probably twice the price as a one-on-one session with a trained math teacher who is familiar with the curriculum.

I agree.  I think Sylvan is expensive.   I also think the public school has failed your daughter.   It happens--a lot.

You could buy materials at home and reteach her.  

Look up Saxon Math, you can do an online test to see where she is at and purchase the materials. There is also a program called Teaching Textbooks,  Singapore Math, or Math U See If you don't do this yourself she will just be pushed out the other end without getting a proper education.

Home educating parents use these materials to help their kids.  

If all else fails, talk to the school.   They should be able to offer some sort of remedial help.
