Pitched up against the Washington Mystics, Chicago Sky centres Sylvia Fowles one erupted with a season-high 34 points - one point short of her career high - and grabbed 16 rebounds in almost 36 minutes.
The 25-year-old was her in her groove on the night, hitting 10 for 16 from the field and knocking down 14 of 17 from free throw line. She punctuated 20 of her points in the second half of the game and helped Sky snap their three-game
losing streak.
Fowles said after the game, “I had to redeem myself,” “After the last few games, the last few losses, I felt I wasn’t playing to my potential. And I wasn’t doing the things I should have been doing and I felt like I was letting
the team down.” “I just wanted to go out and get the job done.”
Fowles, who was the WNBA All-Star MVP for 2010, is leading the league with 21.9 points per game. She has recorded 20-plus points eighth times in the previous 11 games for Chicago.
Epiphanny Prince
Epiphanny Prince also played big for Chicago. The 23-year-old guard scooped 14 points along with five steals. She went 5 for 13 shooting from the field and pinned 3 of 4 free throws.
Marissa Coleman
Marissa Coleman played well in the Washington Wizard’s loss. The player chipped a team-high 14 points and grabbed four rebounds. The 24 year old forward went 5 for 10 from the field.
Jasmine Thomas
Jasmine Thomas came off the bench with 11 points and four assists for the Mystics. She hit 4 for 7 from the floor and pinned 3 of 3 free throws.
Phoenix Mercury vs. Los Angeles Sparks
Diana Taurasi
Mercury’s shooting guard Diana Taurasi was at the top of her game once again as she pounded 5 for 11 from the field en route to her 20 points. The 29-year-old pinned 7 of 7 free throws. She also dished out seven assists and grabbed
four rebounds in the victory.
Candice Dupree
Candice Dupree also punctuated 20 points in the same encounter. The power forward also contributed three assists and three rebounds. She went 7 for 13 from the field and 6 for 6 from free throw line.
Ebony Hoffman
Ebony Hoffman stood up for the Candace Parker - less Los Angeles Sparks. The player notched a game best 21 points and grabbed eight rebounds to keep the Sparks afloat. The 28-year-old forward shot 8 for 11 from the field, 2 for
3 from three-point range and 4 for 4 from the free throw line.
LaToya Pringle
LaToya Pringle was the second leading scorer for Los Angeles on the night. Pringle added 12 points and nine rebounds, going 4 for 8 from the floor. She also pinned 4 of 4 free throws.
