Sylvia Fowles
The Chicago Sky centre Sylvia Fowles was commendable throughout the game against the Connecticut Sun on Friday night. The 25-year-old player rounded up a game-high 23 points, grabbed 10 rebounds, and blocked three difficult shots
as Chicago beat Connecticut 78-75 at Allstate Arena.
On the night, Fowles was the major force that kept the Sky bolting forward and finally when the heat was on, she rocked a cluster of 6,609 basketball fans with her tiebreaking put back with 28 seconds remaining and a pair of free
throw to win their home opener.
Fowles scored 11 of her 23 points in the points in the fourth quarter, shooting 11-for-19 from the field.
Courtney Vandersloot
Guard Courtney Vandersloot also played incredibly well in Chicago’s win. The 22-year-old finished with 18 points and five assists, shooting 7-of-10 from the field.
The rookie player also shot four 3-pointers in the victory; including the first one that gave his team a 3-0 lead over the Sun at the very start of first quarter.
Epiphanny Prince
Epiphanny Prince also had an effective game for Chicago. The 23-year-old guard pulled off 11 points and grabbed seven assists and five rebounds to go along with three steals in 36 plus minutes of action.
Cathrine Kraayeveld
Although, the Chicago’s forward Cathrine Kraayeveld could not score more points but she grabbed 11 important rebounds that bruised the Sun further. Additionally, she pulled off three assists for teammates, playing her role to push
his team up.
Michelle Snow
Michelle Snow played a simple but effective game for the Sky. The centre forward added 12 points, four rebounds, two assists, and two blocks. The players went 4-for-8 from the field.
In an aggressive performance, the prolific Snow’s memorable free throw at 7:44 mark of the second quarter gave her 2,800 WNBA career points, becoming the seventh player of the league with 2,800 points, 2,000 rebounds, and 300 blocks.
Renee Montgomery
The Connecticut guard Renee Montgomery tried her level best to win the game for his team but he could not get support from rest of teammates as no one besides Asjha Jones reached the double figures.
Although the Sun lost the plot in the very first quarter of the game and conceded the game to Chicago, the 24-year-old player rocked the floor for more than 32 minutes. Not only did she scorch the sky with a team-high 22 points,
four assists, and two rebounds she pinned 8-of-11 free throws from the charity stripe.
Asjha Jones
Asjha Jones followed Montgomery with 20 points in the losing effort. The forward player ended with 9-for-17 shooting from the field.
