star as Chicago Sky beat Seattle Storm 78-69 – WNBA Recap
On Tuesday night, Sylvia Fowles and Epiphanny Prince showed why they are All-Stars. The duo combined for 47 of the Sky’s 78 points as Chicago took down Seattle Storm 78-69 at Allstate Arena. It was the third consecutive defeat
for Storm.
Fowles had a team-high 24 points, nine rebounds, two steals and two blocks. The league’s leading scorer so far, shot 9 for 16 from the field and pinned 6 of 7 free throws. Prince finished the game with 23 points, five assists,
three steals and two rebounds.  The 23-year-old guard hit 9 for 15 from the field, including 2 of 2 from three-point range.
Courtney Vandersloot had 11 points, seven assists and five rebounds for Sky, who have won two of their previous three games.
Sue Bird led the Storm with 26 points, four assists, four rebounds and two steals. The 30-year-old guard also pinned 4 of 8 three pointers. Ashley Robinson recorded a double-double in the defeat with a game-high 10 rebounds and
14 points while Swin Cash had 10 points for Seattle, who have lost four of their previous six games.
Chicago shot 47.6 percent (30 for 63) from the field and 88.2 percent (15 for 17) from free throw line. The Storm, on the other hand, shot just 41.3 percent (26 for 63) from the floor and 73.3 percent (11 for 15) from the line.
Sky also outscored Seattle 42-24 in the points in the paint.
Chicago carried a 14-8 lead with 05:30 to go in the first quarter but Seattle responded with a 6-0 run to knot the game at 14. Swords then hit a pair of free throw to make it 16-14, but Smith hit a jumper and Bird pinned a free
throw to put Seattle ahead by 17-16 lead- their first lead of the game. However, Young’s jumper at the buzzer gave Chicago a one-point lead going into the second.
Seattle limited Chicago to only 12 points in the second quarter and took a 33-30 lead at halftime. Prince took over the third quarter and scored 13 of her 23 points in the quarter as Chicago trimmed the deficit to just one, 55-54,
heading into the fourth.
There was nothing to separate between the two teams early in the fourth quarter as well. Little hit a free throw with around two minutes to go in the game to make it a two-point contest, 71-69. However, Sky held Seattle scoreless
in the last minutes of the game and scored seven straight points to walk away with seventh victory of this season.
