Question:

Symbol on Address Bar?

by  |  earlier

I understand that websites add a symbol on my IE tab and address bar. That is fine with me. What bothers me is when I am on my home page, msn.ca, a certain website's symbol still shows up. How do I get rid of it?

Thanks...Mike

  1. This happens to me to and eventually it fixes itself. I have not found a way to fix this but yeah it can get pretty annoying.  BTW, here's the code for it.  Use both of these..

    <link rel="shortcut icon" href="IMAGE LINK HERE" type="image/x-icon">

    <link rel="icon" href="IMAGE LINK HERE" type="image/x-icon">

  2. The icon is called a favico and you can make one at the following sites:

    http://www.html-kit.com/favicon/

    http://www.chami.com/html-kit/services/f...

    http://tools.dynamicdrive.com/favicon/

    http://www.html-kit.com/favicon/validato...

    http://www.favicon.cc/

    One is a favicon validator to make sure you did it correctly.

    Unless you can edit your own web page and add the code and upload the image, you are stuck with the one showing.

  3. One way to get rid of this is to put your own favicon(icon) there, here's a site where you can do that, see below, follow the instructions carefully

  4. that symbol may just be one that is embeded in msn.ca, but it does bring up an interestingp point.

    Whats the code for adding that little logo, does anyone know a website that I can find it at? thanks.
