What is the symbolic meaning of cats? I live in a neighborhood full of cats 10 and normally they avoid me like the plague, even my roommate's cat. They know I don't like them. Then this week my roommate's cat tried to sleep in my bed and 3 other random cats from the neighborhood tried to rub all over me while I was sitting on the front porch. What is the universe trying to tell me?

  1. sorry but the previous answer kinda made me giggle a little, but any who cats are very mysterious and magical. they are also very independent and can pick up on feeling and emotions very well.ts really hard to read what a cats about to do next. that's why they are mysterious and  and magical because they can change your mood from the littlest purr or nudge. these cats you are talking about could have picked up on something you were feeling, if you were sad or upset about something they could have picked up on it and tried to comfort you. and your roommates cat probably just saw a nice bed to sleep on. i really don't see no significance to that one. random cats in your neighborhood trying to rub on you that's a different story.were you sad? if so thats why.

  2. Pets tend to perceive your inner feelings. In ancient egypt, the cat was considered as important as the pharaohs. I used to have cats and dogs in my house and they tended to identify with us really close. Perhaps you have a stong character or some energy that repel them, or they just simply avoid you because they don't know you and they feel you are a threat to them.

  3. Cats are good luck.

Also, they like to come and cheer you up when you feel sad.

  4. Well, if you truly did not like cats, the appearance of any cats attempting to rub up against your or create any sort of bond with you would not even be worth your notice.

With the outside cats, it could be that they are new to the outdoors and are thus seeking any human attention (and hopefully adoption) to help them get back inside. If that isn't the case, it is possible that the cats are picking up on your subconscious receptivity and are thus responding, hoping that you may not hate them but simply accept them. Cats, unlike dogs, are real picky about who they get close to. Loners tend to attract cats more than dogs because dogs are much more social and demanding than cats.

It could also be that during those moments, you weren't projecting a 'I hate the world' attitude, and thus the cats took the opportunity to try and bond with you. If you really don't like them, ignore them. Most cats eventually get the message, and a real alley/outdoor cat won't even think about bothering, much less getting close to, a human even if they are opening a can of 9Lives right in front of them (too trained to think the worst of people, and always ready to run at the slightest hint of danger, as their instincts have gone wild on them.)
