Symbolism of birds being attracted to an individual?

Does any one know the symbolism of birds being attracted to individual pagan christian roman, modern or antiquity or other wise.

It was seen as a confirmation from the gods for kingship.

It was seen also as an omen of death of a nation, or individual.

It would also depend on what type of bird your thinking of, but most cultures consider them either life affirming blessings or omens of death.
