Question:

Symonds The Usain Bolt of Fielding?

Andrew Symonds has been described as the 'Usain Bolt of fielding' by specialist coach Mike Young, who has also caoched baseball players for the olympics. He said Rhodes, Ponting & Clarke are some of the best ever, but Symonds stands in a place of his own for sheer brutal power & strenght, he's that good an athlete.

What do you think of Young's remarks, & how do you assess Symond's fielding ability?

  1. totally agree, and it's not just his fielding. If one takes into account the three disciplines of cricket, bowling, batting & fielding he is undoubtedly the best all round cricketer in the world, and not only is he a useful bowler but he is equally comfortable bowling spin & medium pace. I think he will ultimately be rated as one of the all time great all rounders.

  2. Symonds is phenomenal cricket player. Once in a lifetime cricketer. He can bat, field and bowl perfectly. Its rare to find cricketers like him.

  3. symonds is the kind of player that u can say was born to play cricket or rugby....the man is massively buit and that makes him one of the best six hitter(just under matthew hayden in my opinion)..

the amazing thing is the the size of the player doent affect his quickness in the feild...and the accuracy of his throwing is amazing as is for most australian fielders...

so yes i do agree with mike young...

  4. Symonds is arguably the best athlete playing cricket today. He can truly change a batsman's entire mindset, just by standing in an area of the thirty yard circle the batsman favors!

  5. i think Young is right, he is reinforcing Harbi's praise of Symonds during sydney test , so he has the edge over others because what Harbi said to Symonds was true and this makes special characteristics available with symonds which are absent in others.
