OK I see the doctor tomorrow am on Zophran and Phenergen still throwing up about 6 hours a day or more including the evening time have two kids one is 3 1/2 the other just turned 2 not sure exactly how far guessing about 10 weeks - allergic to Bananas Avocados and Latex so some things in the Brat diet don't work - probably lost about 10 pounds over the last 3 weeks but I am a little hefty so not that big a deal, I would need to lose about 19 to be considered a huge deal which is 10% - The toilet and I are on a first name basis and I just feel so bad... any thing positive, suggestive or friendly to get me through the night would be nice...

PS I am in my 30's married and had the morning sickness with both the first ones (just never this bad)

  1. I was sick through my entire pregnancy with my first child.

Nothing helped I would go to the ER for phenergan and a pain  killer because I also suffered from migraine headaches. Finally toward the last of my pregnancy I did the cracker thing and took a double dosage of my phenergan at night before I went to bed. No throwing up.

  2. I'm so very sorry.  I can't give you any advice, since my only answer is Phenergen, but I wanted to let you know I'm very sorry you're going through this.  Hopefully you are a stay at home mom, as throwing up at work cannot be pleasant.  I'm a teacher, so I DREAD morning sickness, since I'd get in trouble if I left my classroom to go throw up.  A teacher at our school got written up for going to the bathroom when she was 32 weeks along, even though there was another teacher in the classroom to watch the kids.

Anyway, hopefully it'll end soon for you!

  3. Your getting all the sympathy in the world from me!!

My daughter had hyperemisis for her entire pregnancy! She is now week 39 and still throw up if she eats too late! Her case started at 5 weeks. She described it as basically being on a cruise ship. Its this queezy...dizzy...headachy nausia that wont go away! She began with losing a bit of weight ....then it got way worse! In the begining.... being sensitive to smells...then she wouldnt want to eat....or drink...not to mention she was vomiting literally uncontrolably! She even got so dehydrated i swore her pee was the color of iced tea! thats the problem mostly in the begining...you start to dehydrate and the amniotic fluid for the baby gets low! And in the begining f the pregnancy thats real bad! Not to mention the lack of food intake....the baby is feeding off of whatveer you have stored up! She received 4 I.V. hydrations treatments! Dont let yourself get to that point! She also lost about 18 lbs overall! Another thing....she got to the point where she couldnt eat at all.... at all and had to get a PICC line (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kNiLZ8251... is a tube you get inserted into your vein to feed you via I.V....suuucks! She was also on Zofran (she took it every 6 hours). This will hopefully pass for you. Most cases of hyperemisis last til week 20. If you are in the less than 1% group as my daughter was....you will have it well past that time. Be sure to load up on protien! that will help the baby more than anything. Also try to eat small meals through out the day...mild in flavor....every 2 hours! Its ok if you throw it up....keep putting little bits in...everything the baby can get...is better than nothing! Also....be careful of the water intake...sip it....big gulps will inflate your stomach. My daughter really like eating fruits and veggies...try that. Also...for protien...try cottage cheese or edemames.

    Good luck!

  4. I was in your boat until I was 5 months pregnant! TRUST ME it gets better! Try eating a plain saltine cracker before getting out of bed.. before you even lift your head up. That sometimes (but not always) helped me to feel a bit better. Just hang in there.. your baby is worth it! Being a mommy definately has it's sacrafices. Just hang in sweetie.. it will get better!!! (:

  5. oh my goodness you have my sympathy AND empathy!

I was off from weeks 6 to 23 from work with severe morning sickness... I never went on Zophran but I'm definitely still on 6 diclectin a day and I'm 7 months pregnant!  I STILL don't make it to work everyday - and I'm only doing afternoons now!  It's pathetic!

No one understood - unless it's a pregnant woman who was equally as sick (which isn't exactly common) no one will understand!  It's easy to feel so alone!!!  Believe me... I know...

I feel for you!  You didn't jmention how far along you are but hopefully you're at least half way and in the final stretch - for me... November canNOT come soon enough!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  6. I hear ya.  I had hyperemesis and it was extremely tough.  I had it for the first 4 months and I still get morning sickness/motion sickness if I don't watch my eating habits or if I get too overheated.  Have you tried preggie pops?  I personally liked the preggie drops that were sour but I felt they worked pretty well.  I would listen to your cravings (if you have any..I didn't till the worst was over).  Try to stay away from any greasy foods and make sure to rest when you can.  Good luck!

I do agree as well if your vomitting becomes so out of control that you aren't keeping down liquids make sure to go in and be seen.  You may need to have IV therapy.  I was hospitalized 7 times due to dehydration and it was horrible.
