I've learned this before, but i need to refresh my memory. I've been experiencing anxiety and short temper lately, i have been exposed to second hand smoking about 14hours a day, in and out of the house!

If there's anything else you can tell me about second hand smoking it would be very helpful to me thanks.

PS: Can nicotine affect you through second hand?

  1. Yes, you can absorb nicotine from being around second hand smoke, though the quantity is in most cases significantly lower than if you smoked yourself. And anxiety and short temper are classic symptoms of nicotine withdrawal, while calming and mellowing effects are typical of nicotine use.

  4. NO! NO! NO!

The junk scien of the EPA that claimed harm could be done by 2nd hand smoke was OVERTURNED in the late 90's by the US Supreme Court.

Air quality test results by Johns Hopkins University, the American Cancer Society, a Minnesota Environmental Health Department, and various researchers whose testing and report was peer reviewed and published in the esteemed British Medical Journal......prove that secondhand smoke is 2.6 - 25,000 times SAFER than occupational (OSHA) workplace regulations:

The EPA NEVER tried to appeal the courts decision.....seems like they knew they were selling a 'smoke screen' (PUN INTENDED).

A federal judge has ruled that the Environmental Protection Agency wrongly declared secondhand tobacco smoke a dangerous carcinogen in a landmark 1993 report, a decision that could imperil hundreds of local and regional ordinances banning indoor smoking.

The controversial EPA report concluded environmental tobacco smoke is a Class A carcinogen, as hazardous as radon and responsible for some 3,000 lung cancer deaths each year. The tobacco industry promptly sued in federal court to force the study to be withdrawn, arguing that the agency ignored accepted scientific and statistical practices in making its risk assessment -- a contention made at the same time by many independent scientists.

After five years of court pleadings and deliberations, U.S. District Court Judge Thomas Osteen, of the Middle District of North Carolina, ultimately agreed with the industry. He issued his opinion late Friday, and many EPA and tobacco industry officials were still unaware of it even when contacted last evening. "
