Hi, just wondering if anybody out here is allergic to honey or fructose, and if so, what are your symptoms? I'm just trying to figure out whether I may actually be allergic to one of the two before I go to the trouble of being tested....Thanks in advance!

  1. This is the second time i have noticed that after having eating wild honey that my blood pressure shot up and this second time i ended up with a shock from my defibrillator. is this my imagination!! will further monitor myself.

  2. I had a severe reaction last evening to eating non-filtered local honey.  I had  immediately been unable to breath, then vomiting, and coughing spasms so severe my husband called 911.  I was transported to a local hospital and given epinephrine, oxygen, vicodin, ventolin, and a nebulizer.  Now I'm on a course of prednisone for the next 3 days.  This was the second jar of honey I purchased from the local vendor and I was 1/2 way through this jar.  I had never heard of allergies to honey.  I do remember hearing not to give it to children.

  3. I am allergic to hone and within a few minutes my mouth and throat become itchy and if I don't take benadryl the reaction spreads to my entire sinus cavity causing swelling and difficulty breathing. It is a rare allergy and my Dr. says I am the first he has met so far.

  4. My son gets really bad stomache aches after eating honey. It seems to take 6 to 24 hours to bother him and he feels sick until he throws up. Honey is in a lot of foods. Even a lot of wheat breads.

  5. i am experiencing severe stomach cramps and vomiting and suspect the honey after reading.it feels like period pains and its horrible. is that possible?i mix with hot water and lemon with cinnamon.i love the taste as i read its very good for you, however the cramps are very bad.

  6. I am also allergic to honey with just a small amount I develop swelling of the lips/tongue, hives, diarrhea and the worst anaphylaxis . My best advice since honey is in a wide range of unexpected places go to your doctor, there are tests they can do to determine you're specific allergies and determine if you should carry an epi-pen (epinephrone pen, it delivers a dose of epinephrine if you are experiencing difficulty breathing).  Don't experiment or try out any foods you think you may be allergic to, food allergies can be dangerous there are around 200 deaths per year from anaphylaxis to food.  More info can be found at www.foodallergy.org  Check out their symptoms page it has alot of good info.
    Good luck and stay health!

  9. I am just heading to the hospital on the advice of my doctor's office staff to be tested for this allergy. I ate raw unfiltered honey and immediately experienced symptoms of a highly irritated mouth and over the next few days, swollen and tender sublingual glands. They are worried that since it is getting worse it may be an allergic reaction. The honey I ate came from apples. It was thick with pollens and bee parts. I've never been stung by a honey bee so I don't know if I have an allergy to bees. I have reacted to raw apples in the past though, so I'm considering this as a good possibility.
