Synchronised heading for his second successive Grade 1 in the Hennessy Gold Cup on 12th February at Leopardstown
The Irish bred nine-year-old bay gelding, Sadler’s Wells colt Synchronised, out of Mayasta, is owned by John McManus and is under training Jonjo O’Neill. The winner of the Grade 1, Lexus Chase is being pointed for the Grade 1, Hennessy Gold Cup on
12th February at Leopardstown which will be raced over three miles. The race has attracted a lineup of seventeen runners.
On 28th December 2011, Synchronised won the Grade 1, Lexus Chase that was raced over three miles with seventeen fences obstructing the track. The nine-year-old with A P McCoy onboard, won on a field of nine contestants, winning
the race with eight and a half lengths in the end.
Rubi Light trained by Robert Alan Hennessy, was the second to cover the three mile track, and was soon followed by the 13 to 8 favourite of the race, Quito De La Roque under C A Murphy’s training, with D N Russell onboard.
The Grade 1, Hennessy Gold Cup on 12th February will be a successive Grade 1 in which Synchronised will participate. However, the trainer, Jonjo O’Neill has made the participation conditional on the clause that the horse should
work satisfactorily next week.
Sychronised has raced six times during the 2011 seaso,n and has won twice out of those starts with being placed twice.
He won the Grade 3, Coral Welsh National Handicap Chase on 8th January, 2011 at Chepstow which was raced over three miles, five furlongs and 110 yards. The track that was invaded by eighteen runners comprised of twenty-two fences.
Giles Cross trained by Victor Dartnall was the runner up while, I’moncloudnine, conditioned by Dougie Costello, was third in line behind the winner.
The 9 to 2 favourite of the race, Maktu under Pat Murphy’s charge, finished fifth.
"He'll do a bit of work midweek and the intention is to travel, and Tony [McCoy] will be over again all being well," said Berry.
"It took him a bit of time to recover from the Lexus but he seems well enough in himself again and, if he pleases Jonjo during the week, he'll run at Leopardstown and if not he'll wait until Cheltenham."
In case Synchronised does end up winning the race then it would be his second success on the trot that also in Grade 1.
